Besides being a versatile network LAN switch, it also provides a Power over Ethernet option that supplies power injection into 802.3af-compliant devices, such as IP phones, wireless access points and even network cameras. Power over Ethernet 802.3af, Class 2 The PoE Office Switch has 16 10/100Base-TX ports that support the 802.3af protocol and is designed to inject up to 7.3 Watts per port. Any device that is 802.3af compliant and has a power draw not exceeding 7.3 watts can be attached to the switch, and no additional power will be required to support the attached device. This eliminates the time and expense of electrical power rewiring, and minimizes the clutter of power supplies and adapters in awkward places such as ceilings and walls. The Class 2 design of this switch ensures that the sufficient power for most PoE-enabled devices is available on all 16 ports simultaneously. Optimum Performance Besides providing 802.3af Power over Ethernet functionality, the PoE Office Switch has some very impressive features as a switch. For starters, the auto features of this switch make installation Plug and Play and hassle free. No configuration is required. Auto-MDI/MDI-X crossover on all ports eliminates the need for crossover cables for connection to another switch or hub. Auto-negotiation on each port senses the link speed of a network device (either 10 or 100) and intelligently adjusts for compatibility and optimal performance.
