Now I’m not advocating we pull our phone systems off the wall, put them outside and watch them run away !  I’m saying that with technology as it is suppliers can offer the ‘boxes’ for very little money.

Samsung has stepped up its focus on artificial intelligence (AI) by taking over Viv, a digital assistant developed by the creators of Apple's Siri.

The acquisition comes just days after Google launched its new Pixel phone which also puts a strong focus on an AI digital assistance function.

Amazon and Microsoft are also making a push into getting computers to learn and respond like human beings.

Samsung’s unprecedented recall follows a supply-chain issue that brought disappointing sales.
